arving & tooling leather is a hobby I have enjoyed since my teens, and one I have hoped to turn into a business or sideline. Meanwhile, I've been fortunate to be able to produce some fun and very challenging pieces - including a guitar strap and fully tooled director's chair for Dwight Yoakam; a notebook for an owner of the Seattle Mariners baseball team; awards for the Cascade Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club's annual Specialty Shows; and numerous projects for friends and family.
Leather carving is an ancient and traditional art form, and the leather itself is a versatile and interesting medium - no two pieces are ever the same! I enjoy combining traditional western floral designs with figure carving and custom lettering. I use all-natural vegetable tanned hides, produced either in the USA or England, and learn something with every project that is undertaken.
Here are some photos of past projects, I'll be adding to them as I dig up more pictures. Please email me if you have an interest in custom work - including, but certainly not limited to: chairs, cases, humidors & keepsake boxes, portfolios & albums, wall hangings, furniture panels & architectural pieces, horse tack and of course - dog show trophies! The only limit is one's imagination...
